Learning Pronouns For Beginners

 Learning Pronouns       For Beginners

The lesson for today is on Pronouns. Either you are here to get the A+ Grade in that assignment, prepare for a test, quiz or for your personal study you are welcome.
Enough of the pleasantries, let's quickly explain the topic. Do me a favour and read this to the end for a better understanding.

A pronoun is a word used instead of a noun. This means pronouns are used to replace nouns in a sentence. Study the example below:
A: Frank is the quarterback of our football team.
B: He is the quarterback of our football team.
From the example above, the word Frank (noun-name of a person) has been replaced with He ( pronoun-gender for male).
Pronouns are used when we do not want to mention the name of a person or we do not want to the repeat the name of a person multiple times in a speech or writing because it tends to make it boring.
Note, Pronouns can never be preceded by an article (a or an) or a determiner (the). Study the example below:
A: The girl is beautiful✓
B: The she is beautiful ×
C: She is beautiful✓
From the above, the correct answer to replace the girl (noun phrase) in this sentence is option C. This is because Determiners and articles do not start a sentence with a pronoun.

That's all for the basic lesson of Pronouns. Hope you understood the lesson?
